COMMUNITY MEETING
Our community meeting on APRIL 26, 2012 at the North Shore Community Center was well attended with approximately 40 residents there to listen and participate in a lively discussion about the future of Covehead Lighthouse. Carol Livingstone, the president of the PEI Lighthouse Society and Greg Bryant from Parks Canada were both there and answered a number of questions that were asked.
We were pleased that a number of people came forward and volunteered to assist with the next steps towards saving Covehead Lighthouse and Ryan Doucet from Richard’s Fresh Seafood at Covehead Harbour pledged his support by offering a couple of fund raising opportunities.
Our next step, as a community, is to come together and prepare a plan to manage the Lighthouse for future generations. This will involve forming a “not-for-profit” organization that is interested in adopting Covehead Lighthouse and moving forward with the preparation of a Business plan for submission to the Heritage Lighthouse Group.
